Captains Day at Wyboston Lakes on 16th October
Captains Day Details
Captains Day will take place at Wyboston this year with slightly different arrangements. We will still be raising funds for the Captains charity (Chums UK Ltd, Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Support) but there will be no organised food after the round - you are more than welcome to make your own food arrangements at the club. We will be holding the usual auction of 4 and 2 ball vouchers for a number of the courses we've played this year, so please hang around after the game and get involved.
As well as the auction there will be secret pairs and yellow ball competitions, all requiring cash donations for the charity. Please bring plenty of cash to enter these (compulsory!) competitions on the day.
There will be the usual prizes for the overall winner and nearest the pin competitions PLUS a £50 cash prize (donated by Chris Townson) for the lowest total gross score on all the par 3's (5 in total)
Good luck everyone and don't forget to bring some 'readies'!
The first tee time is 12-30pm and bacon rolls and drinks will be available from 11-30 am

Four tee times will be booked for each venue, with the first tee at 1.00pm unless stated otherwise, including bacon roll tea/coffee on arrival. Guests are welcome at the society rate of £40 per society day.
The cut off time will be 9am 10 days before the Friday society day, (i.e. on Wednesday the week before), after which time you will be required to pay even if you or your guests subsequently drop out - unless we can fill your place.
The 2025 Season Winners Presentation Took Place at the Annual Dinner at the Kings Arms, Cardington
Our annual dinner was held at the Kings Arms in Cardington on 19th February. The food was once again excellent with Fish and Chips dominating the menu selection for the main course.
One of our members suffered the 'old person memory loss syndrome' and had to be reminded by a colleague when his absence from the dinner table was noted. In his state of short term memory loss he tucked into fish & chips from his local chippy for dinner, forgetting he had a 3-course meal waiting for him in Cardington. He eventually arrived just when starters were being served.........no prizes for guessing what he had pre-ordered for his main course....................you guessed it, fish and chips! No names mentioned here but no doubt he will be suitably reminded of his faux pas at every oppotunity this coming golf season!
In between the main and dessert courses the trophy pesentations took place to the deserving 2025 winners. Last years Captain, Keith, presented the trophies and our Master of Ceremonies was of course Rixy.
- Overall 2025 winner, Michael O'Brien was presented with the Green Jacket, winners Shield and the much coveted Parrot Trophy
- Captains Day winners trophy went to Derek Fay
- Captains Day second place trophy went to Nigel Bennett
- Captains Day nearest the pin was won by Mark Maby
- Winner of the Spencer Trophy for the most nearest the pins over the season was Michael O'Brien
- Julian Pagliaro won the trophy for the three clubs and a putter competition at Christmas

Society AGM Minutes
The Annual General Meeting was held at the Cricket Club on Tuesday 13th January 2026. As usual there was a reasonable number of attendees with all the existing committee members standing for re-election - see minutes below:
We emphasise the 'friendly' nature of our society but there are some basic rules and etiquette we would like all members to follow
Golfguard Insurance
Ickwell Golf Society are able to offer members Golfgard Bronze Insurance cover for the following:
- Personal Liability up to £5 million
- Accidental damage limited to £5,000
- Personal accident up to £50,000
- Hole in one bar bill up to maximum £100
- There are no excesses on any of the above
Joining dates are every 3 months from 23rd April 2024, please apply 2 weeks before each quarter date. The full annual premium of £5.50 is payable for cover up to 22nd April 2025 no matter when you join.
